The Benefits of Using Hanging Banners for Your Exhibition Stand

Exhibitions have always been a battle for visitors’ attention. With custom exhibition stands, you have to strike a balance between being visually appealing and communicating the values and services of your business. As a result, getting the right stand design can be difficult. But one of the ways businesses can really stand out is by taking themselves from simply eye-level to ‘up in the sky’ level; thanks to hanging banners.

What is a hanging Banner?

Hanging banners are display structures that drop from a ceiling, typically made from printed lightweight fabric wrapped round an aluminium frame. Depending on your location and exhibition stand design, these banners are typically hung from truss structures. Over time, they have become an increasingly popular and cost-effective way of maximising visibility. Hanging banners can be designed single-sided or double sided with the option of fabric graphics on multiple sides.

Most commonly, they are used to display a company’s brand name or logo at an exhibition. However, they can be used as an additional backdrop for any presentation stages at conferences too.

Should you use Hanging Banners on your exhibition stand?

One of the reasons to use a suspended banner comes down to a single word: visibility. Where many eye-level exhibits and materials can get lost in the crowds, a hanging banner is constantly visible, drawing endless attention to your exhibition stand.

When choosing the design for your exhibition stand, making your brand stand out is key. One way to clearly display your brand to potential customers is by incorporating a hanging banner into your stand design.

Why would a hanging banner be the right choice for me?

There are plenty of reasons to consider using a hanging banner as part of your next exhibition display:

  1. Visibility: It allows visitors to see your company name and logo from across the venue – making you easy to locate and keep your brand in view (and the minds) of potential clients.

  2. Cost-effectiveness: The design and build of a hanging banner is relatively cost-effective, allowing you to capitalise on your stand space without the need for costly structural enhancements.

  3. Versatile and re-useable: Your hanging banner can be re-used at future shows, making it a win for your bank balance and the environment.

Anything I need to be wary of?

We have mentioned cost – and whilst the cost to design and make your banner may be pretty economical it is important to remember to budget for the rigging of your banner. Rigging has to be done by the venue service itself – and the price can vary.

You will also need to check with the venue and exhibition organisers that they will allow you to have a hanging banner. Some events and exhibitions will only allow key sponsors the opportunity to have a hanging banner at the show.

It is also important to consider the size of your stand when deciding whether to opt for a hanging banner as you don’t want to overpower a small stand. A reputable exhibition stand builder like MxL would be able to talk you through your options to find the perfect design solution for your stand space.

Re-using exhibition stand components

At MxL, we prioritise sustainability by reusing exhibition stand components, a practice deeply rooted in our company’s ethos. Our founder, Bill Moule, exemplified this commitment by salvaging previously used exhibition stand items for future use. Today, we continue this tradition, consistently opting to retain stand items rather than dispose of them.

Our primary service involves designing and building bespoke exhibition stands and creating innovative stand designs tailored to our client’s brands. After construction, we encourage clients to store any custom-built elements for future events. If clients choose not to reuse these components, we aim to retain them for incorporation into other clients’ stand designs, offering impressive features at a fraction of the cost through our hire service.

For instance, we crafted a bespoke wood-effect laminate canopy with a custom planter base for a client exhibiting at ICE London 2024 at ExCeL London:

We then integrated this piece into another client’s exhibition stand at Undersea Defence Technology (UDT) held at ExCeL London:

Subsequently, Balance Creative’s client utilised this component in their exhibition stand at Solar and Storage Live London, also at ExCeL London:

The two stands that benefited from using the existing stand components both requested wood-effect features and planters in their stand briefs, ensuring these elements were purposefully included rather than used merely to repurpose leftovers.

This approach aligns with our commitment to environmental sustainability. Where possible, we utilise stock exhibition stand components such as flooring, walling, counters, and cabinets, and we encourage clients to reuse any bespoke items in future projects.

MxL at B2B Marketing Expo 2023

The MxL team had an amazing two days exhibiting at the B2B Marketing Expo in November at Excel, London.  This was our second time exhibiting at the show, and after last year’s success it was a clear decision to come back!

This year proved just as successful, with plenty of new contacts and leads as well as new business already won from the show!

It’s important as a company that we practice what we preach, with exhibiting being such a valuable and vital tool that helps us grow as a business.

Our exhibition stand design was on point as always – huge pressure on our in-house exhibition stand design team to get this right as all eyes were on us as the experts!

The stand worked very well for our sales team to talk with visitors in a comfortable and informal manner, with plenty of screens to showcase and demo our previous exhibition stand builds.

Overall it was another fantastic show, and one that we will no doubt be attending again in 2024!

A man holding up two pictures of a machine.

For exhibitors, organising your exhibition stand can be a very daunting task.  When booking your space at the show, the first question you’ll be asked from the organisers is if you want a shell scheme or a space only.

For those of you who have absolutely no idea what this means, fear not… we are here to help!

Watch our MxL TV video blog here where we discuss the difference between a shell scheme and a space only exhibition stand:

Promote personal hygiene on your next exhibition stand

A diagram showing the layout of a trade show booth.

With the announcement of live business events scheduled to begin again from the 1st October, it is imperative to make sure that both exhibitors and visitors feel safe when attending their next trade shows.

It is also a testing time for companies to financially commit to exhibiting at a trade show, with the uncertainty of what the future holds for all business sectors.

To help companies get back to attending business events, we have come up with an affordable solution for bespoke stand spaces with personal hygiene front and centre to ensure that all exhibitors and visitors feel safe and relaxed when discussing business opportunities together.

Our exhibition stand designs ensure full branding exposure, while also including protective screens, hand sanitiser stations and floor markers.  The design can be modified to suit all stand sizes, from small 3m x 2m shell schemes all the way up to larger island spaces.

Is your company planning on getting back to exhibiting again?  If so, feel free to contact us today on 01992 642 642 or email info@mxlltd.co.uk to discuss your stand requirements and how we can implement personal hygiene onto your stand space.
